This app caught my attention on App Advice’s “Apps Gone Free” page today. Color Thief is a simple app that does one thing, and does it very well: it takes colors from one photo and applies them to another. Essentially, it does the same thing as Photoshop’s “Match Color” option.
I tested it out with a lot of random photos from my iPad photo gallery, and while the results aren’t always spot-on (and sometimes artifacts are introduced into the result as well), it’s pretty good for matching artwork that’s closely matched but not quite.
Here’s a comparison of Fringe 365 items 69-71: the first set without adjustment, and the second set adjusted by Color Thief (based on the first panel).
Maybe not the best example since the originals were close enough anyway, but… you get the idea.
